This Privacy Policy explains how The Talent Community ("TTC", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects personal data when you use our website, web application, events, newsletters, podcast, vendor directory and learning content (together, the "Platform").
TTC is the data controller for personal data processed about members, newsletter subscribers, event attendees and vendor contacts. We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation ("UK GDPR") and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. The data we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: name, email, employer, job role, country, LinkedIn URL, profile photo.
- Vendor details: company name, logo, contact people, services, pricing options.
- Event registrations and attendance records.
- Posts, comments, questions, replies and reactions in community channels.
- Messages you send to us via email, forms or chat.
- Payment details (processed by our payment processor - we do not store full card numbers).
Information collected automatically
- Device and browser data, IP address, approximate location, language.
- Pages visited, links clicked, referring source, session duration.
- Cookies and similar technologies - see our Cookie Policy.
Information from third parties
- If you sign in with Google or LinkedIn we receive basic profile data from those providers.
- Public professional information (e.g. LinkedIn) used to verify your role at sign up.

3. Who we share data with
- Other members: your public profile, posts, comments and event RSVPs are visible to signed-in members.
- Vendor partners: where you opt in to download a resource, request a demo, attend a sponsored event or click a vendor offer, we share the data needed for that purpose with the vendor under a data sharing agreement.
- Service providers (processors): hosting and database, authentication, email delivery, analytics, payment processing, video hosting, customer support. All processors are bound by contract and process data on our instructions only.
- Legal & safety: where required by law, court order, regulator, or to protect the rights, property or safety of TTC, our members or the public.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you.
We never sell your personal data.
4. International transfers
Some processors are based outside the UK / EEA (for example in the United States). Where this is the case we rely on UK International Data Transfer Agreements, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or other approved safeguards to protect your data.
5. How long we keep data
- Account data: while your account is active and for up to 24 months after closure.
- Newsletter list: until you unsubscribe, then we keep a suppression record only.
- Event records: up to 3 years for reporting and reconciliation.
- Financial records: 7 years (UK tax requirement).
- Logs and analytics: typically 13 months.
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten") where the law allows.
- Restrict or object to processing.
- Receive your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing).
- Complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

7. Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS), encryption at rest, role-based access controls, row-level security on our database, audit logging, and regular reviews. No system is 100% secure - please use a strong, unique password and tell us immediately at security@thetalentcommunity.co.uk if you suspect a breach.
8. Children
The Platform is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the most recent change. Material changes will be notified by email or via the Platform.
